Educational-Outreach-Project-26
The Northern Girl Project, led by Northern Voices Ghana, aims to combat early marriages and promote girl child education in Northern Ghana. Focusing on the Sagnarigu District, the project will raise awareness about the harmful impacts of early marriage and the benefits of education, while providing mentorship, reproductive health education, and support systems for girls in junior high school. By creating a registry to track educational progress and organizing community events such as durbars and mentorship programs, the project seeks to reduce school dropouts, empower girls to pursue their dreams, and engage parents and community leaders in the fight to end child marriage. With plans for expansion across the three Northern regions, the project strives for lasting change through increased awareness, community involvement, and sustained educational support.

As part of Northern Voices Ghana's efforts to promote peace before, during, and after the elections, we collaborated with The Active Youth, the Northern Regional Youth Network, and received support from Oxfam, Plan International, YEFL GH, and NORSAAC to host The Active Youth Forum 2020, under the theme: "Commitment to Peace: The Responsibility of Youth and All Stakeholders." cc The theme was further explored by our keynote speaker, Mr. AB Gyan Ansah, Regional Director of the National Youth Authority for the Northern Region. We extend our sincere thanks to all our speakers, panelists, and the active youth who attended. Your commitment to peace and advocacy is truly inspiring. Let's continue to work together for a more peaceful future.

Northern Voices Ghana’s educational outreach initiative, titled “Aren’t Our Perspectives of Education All Wrong?”, aimed to provide education, mentorship, and career guidance to senior high school students across the Northern Region of Ghana. The program reached over 5,000 students from 20 selected schools. With approval from the Northern Regional Director of Education, our team held sessions outside of regular school hours, engaging students for two to three hours per visit. During these sessions, the team delivered visual presentations and speeches addressing key challenges students face in high school. Topics included common academic mistakes, strategies for maximizing high school education, post-graduation expectations, available scholarships and funding opportunities, as well as tips on staying motivated. In addition, prominent alumni from the participating schools were invited to share their personal journeys, offering inspiration and practical advice. The program encouraged active participation through discussions, allowing students to ask questions and provide insights. Following the sessions, students were appointed as ambassadors for Northern Voices Ghana and matched with mentors. These mentors conducted occasional visits to support the students, offering guidance on their future plans and academic goals.
